This Checklist of major flora and fauna in and around Chitwan National Park is an outcome of diligent efforts of researchers, conservationists and all wildlife enthusiasts. This list is compiled from various sources and contributors. Checklist tries to compile the information on the species
records obtained since the establishment of the park 1973 and Tiger Ecology Project; incorporating the findings from various research regarding flora and fauna.
A total 75 species of mammals representing 24 families, 643 species of birds representing 90 family, 56 species of herpetofauna representing 19 family, 121 species of fish representing 26 family, 206 species of butterflies representing 7 family and 422 species plants representing 91 family are presented in the checklist.
