Vulture Rescue from Manaslu Conservation Area

One week ago, the NTNC-MCAP team rescued the critically endangered white-rumped vulture (Gyps bengalensis) from Nackchet village, Sirdibas-3 in the Manaslu Conservation Area. Upon rescue the vulture was found to have been released a year ago with GPS telemetry from the Vulture Conservation Breeding Center in Kasara in Chitwan National Park.

Initially found in a very weak condition, we are happy to share that presently the vulture has recovered health after provisions for intensive care and diet were made from our Philim office. Just some hours ago, NTNC-MCAP handed over the vulture to a technical team sent through the initiation of Bird Conservation Nepal #BCN and National Trust for Nature Conservation – Biodiversity Conservation Center. The handover was made in Jagat Bagar, from where it will be carried to Machakhola, where an ambulance awaits the team, before being taken to Chitwan. We wish the vulture and team all the future luck and good health!
